This project involved the phased design and construction of a new flagship 60 bed care home and 24 extra care flats and was the inspiration of a local benefactor whose vision was to create the best possible care home and extra care flats for the people of Bedford.  The buildings have since won prestigious awards and has been opened by HRH The Countess of Wessex.  HBW was privileged to have worked on such a scheme and with such visionary people, especially as HBW’s involvement started at project inception when initial design ideas were first presented. 

HBW maintained very close contact with the client throughout all stages of the project and HBW’s experience in delivering care homes and extra care flats over the years put HBW in the ideal place to interpret client requirements and ensure that not only a superb home for the people of Bedford was created, the cost and programme of the project was tightly managed to provide the client with complete control over every aspect of the project.
