The Grange Farm Pavilion and Essex Wildlife Trust Interpretation Centre was opened by HRH the Earl of Wessex in November 2011. The scheme won a Green Apple Environment Award 2011 for Building & Construction, 'Environmental Education Projects'.
The Pavilion provides sports facilities and services for the local area and comprises changing rooms, community hall with kitchen, four new football pitches and also accommodation for the Essex Wildlife Trust.
Initially the scheme was procured using traditional bills of quantities with HBW acting in a Quantity Surveying role. However, the project was converted into a Design and Build project with the contract being negotiated with a single contractor, with HBW acting as the Employer’s Agent and CDM Co-ordinator.
HBW was fully involved in this process on a very complex and imaginative scheme provided detailed monthly progress/financial reports accompanying certificates for payment, chairing progress meetings and liaising between the Employer, the Design Team and the Main Contractor to ensure a successful project was achieved.
