The scheme comprised the demolition of derelict ‘temporary’ buildings and construction of a new extension providing facilities for community work.  Limited funding and relevant experience of certain church members drove the evolution of a ‘self managed’ project procured by the Construction Management method.
Following a number of earlier unsuccessful attempts by others, HBW was challenged to finally make the client’s vision a reality.  The unique circumstances of this project presented both opportunities and challenges that required flexible and creative Project Management.  HBW provided guidance and support to the client’s own Construction Manager and cost managed the scheme.  Town planning, conservation zone issues and funding restrictions each added their own constraints to the scheme, forcing some compromises to be made to objectives and design but the final solution created an award winning building which satisfies the client’s needs within budget.
